Re: Nos or not on a pst?
oh,forgot to mention you can have EFI on the oldschool engine...1700cc with EFI engine management and multiple stages of nos would be a deadly combo if you ask me..But AMA can't make people build these bikes so I guess it is what it is!!

Re: Nos or not on a pst?
I dont run the class so im outside looking in.I think the more you change the rules the more people are not going to build these bikes. You all ready have to have a 30,000 + dollor motorcycle to Win.And no one wants to start building one of these bikes and the rule keeps getting changed every year. Letting the turbos run nos or allcy is crazy to me, No matter how u sugar coat it. It is a power adder.

Re: Nos or not on a pst?
I did read the rules and so did some other people that are building or have a NOS bike. Yes we can run EFI and all these new high tech things, but the bottom line is you wont make the same HP as a turbo and when you start to make big power guess what you hurt parts!!! Can i ask why if EFI is the answer to all of the NOS problems why do all of the ADRL Pro Mod cars have carbs...not saying EFI isnt a good thing, it's just not the silver bullet

because their rules say they can't have fuel injection..it's one thing to not use it when the rules don't allow but it's another thing to not use it when your rules are wide open and say you can have whatever you want...
Brad you are good people but to ask what can the nos bikes get and you are not using all of what you are allowed to have now...there is nothing left to give nos bikes...you have a nos bike in front of you, look at it real good and come back and tell us what you can do to that bike to make it better that is not already in the rule book..I forgot that a nos bike can be 2" of ground clearance...I know you may say who am I to be saying this stuff but it's true..I would love to have been able to build a nos bike but my threshold for pain is not that great so I had to go sit down somewhere.. ...have you seen the fuel curve of a nos motor while on nos with efi engine mangement? well I have and I can tell you this, you will only wish your a/f would be as smooth and consistent with a wet kit as the ones I've seen on a dry kit..we just recently done a Motec M4 job and tune and the bike made 300hp and it's not even nowhere near starting to work that engine yet and the engine is a very small engine compared to what you could do with a GS based program..If you're interested give us a call and maybe we can help you be the first nos bike to run 7.20's or faster..seriously!!

Re: Nos or not on a pst?
unlimited rules and dave norris is going 6.90's
and the turbos arent maxed out u say, and they been 7.teens
if any thing there is still a question about injecting any liquid into an engine besides fuel.that could be a power adder in its self.
cooling the intake charge ads power.
I SEE A PLACE FOR OUTLAW BIKES TO RUN IN THE FUTURE.

Re: Nos or not on a pst?
the powers that be, have had a grudge against nitrous for a long time,
like when they added weight to SLOW DOWN nitrous so the turbos could catch up .then left it on there 3-4 years longer for good measure.
even if a nitrous bike could win a race the rules be changed before the race was over.

Re: Nos or not on a pst?
I dont feel that any rules should be changed. Leave the rules alone if you want the class to keep growing. Don't go mess up a good thing. I had a non-cooled bike, and changed everything to put a cooler on it. It would be a slap in the face to now allow something else and now I have a heavier bike than I could have had with no cooler and nos.
Leave the rules alone!

Re: Nos or not on a pst?
i dont race the class but... i do know that the constant change of rules in the outlaw class from the mid 90's to when the class was cancelled is wat made for less and less competitors at each race until there was barely enough for 2 rounds of racing.
i say if the class is setup and running good then no rule changes...
the only reason i dont think people build nitrous bikes is because they are trying to start with the wrong platform of a build...
if i had the money... i would love to build an old gs 70" long with a outlaw motor in it... i could see it running 7.20's taking away the flat slick and 5"s from an outlaw style old bike would kill the short time but i think you could adjust and compete just no one wants to try and be different anymore
leave the rules like they are becuase that class is so expensive to compete in that any rule changes just add to the cost of racing and in this day and time money is harder to come by every day

Re: Nos or not on a pst?
Amen, constant changes will be the demise of the class just like Outlaw. Leave it alone.

Im a NO against changing any rules as far as power adders. If you want your intake temps lower than intercool it like the rules allow you too.

Let them use methanol

Re: Nos or not on a pst?
Only a "nitrous bike" should be allowed to use nitrous, for any reason.
